Greatings to all.

I have just finished a very painful repair on my Prado.. The heads of coarse. I never had many options on where I could take it and ended up over 3 months with out my cruiser.

I am now just putting the Turbo back on after having that rebuilt as well.

Here's the deal. The mechanic ended up putting the hed on which now leaks very bad. Install one of the glow plugs wrong and it popped out and arced to one of the injectors. took it back to him, ( on monday after getting it on friday) and he told me it was defective as I had supplied the part. later being told by others that they must have overtightened it. so there was another 300$. I have always had black smoke when I started it or was pushing through snow. and it was even worse after I got it back so I decided to have the Turbo rebuilt. when I went to take it off 2 of the bolts were conpletly strippe and when I finnally got the turbo off I realized that the leak that i was told was from the main seal (which never leaked before I brought it in) was actually the rear of the head seal. This guy does not want to take any responsibility for his work and so far I have dropped over 6m into the engine.

Anyone have any advice on what a guy should do??

Damm man, don't scare me! I have to change my head pertly soon... only way to do proper 4x4 unfortunately... what year is your Prado? Since when Toyota readjust their head? do u know witch year the head is compatible with a 1990 Prado, i've heard a 97 3L?? Doing that work, does it solve the problem forever? if u know anything about all that, please spread the word... Thanks GAEL

Hi!i own a prado also- Lj78. the heads are the usual trouble esp with the 2lte engines. try having your cyl head refaced & a good cylinder head gasket plus correct bolt torque tightening maybe you will get better result.
