Let me clarify the way Toyota is filling the orders. Contrary to what everyone thinks, Toyota does not build the vehicles to spec per your order. They build batches of certain colors in certain configurations of equipment & then ship them to the U.S. The vehicles are then matched to the customer's orders. I have already had 3 customers take delivery within 30 days of their orders because they ordered the GPS Nav. System. So your order could take anywhere from 30 days to 6 months depending on color & equipment.

ToyotaBobby is incorrect on several fronts.
Toyota does continue to build the Prius to Order.
As quoted on the Prius order website, the current waiting list extends to December production, January/February delivery (mostly depending on West/East coast). There are certain cases where customers cancel their orders after their car has been built, and as a result another customer waiting for the same color and options is pulled ahead.
ToyotaBobby may be the top Prius salesperson in the Southeast but he is not the top Prius salesperson in the whole USA. The top Prius Dealers in the USA are in the San Francisco Bay Area.

There is really no way to track your order. The dealer is aware when the vehicle is about 2 weeks from being at the dealer or in what we call sea stock. If your salesman is on the ball, he will call Toyota distribution on a weekly basis as I do. I have found that on occassion, I can come up with some extra cars if orders have been canceled or there are no matches for color & equipment.

Norcalprius is correct if you go by what is stated on Toyota's website, however the reality is that Toyota built alot of the Prius the first 2 months of the 2002 production with the Nav. System, not to spec, as they did not know what the demand for 2002 would be. I have confirmed this, this morning with my distributor. Also, Toyota ran out of the 2001 Prius & were not able to fulfill all of the 2001 orders, so they have been offering these vehicles to customers as an alternative. He should probably check with his distributor rather than just reading the website. I do understand that they are making an effort to build the vehicles to spec starting in Oct. or Nov. As for being the top salesman, there are certainly dealerships in CA selling more of the Prius, however we'll wait & see how the numbers spill for the top salesperson at year end.

OK, question then... If a car that meets the spec's of one ordered by someone in the south, why did southeast get cars that they did not even have orders for??? So to get a car drop my order in the south.. get on the phone, hop a plane.. get the car... Just asking ??

They have all the options less the port installed items (minor items at that)..

later

You have to understand how Toyota is set up. Toyota has split the country into 5 different regions & each region operates independently & has it's own allocation. The vehicles are shipped into the regions & then it is their responsibility to match the vehicles with the customers & allocate the vehicles to the dealerships. For example, a vehicle shipped to Southeast Toyota Distributors, who operates in GA, AL, FL, NC & SC cannot reallocate a vehicle to the Gulf State regions. Understand that most of these vehicles have been picked up by customers who were waiting for 2001 orders.

Bobby, you sound as motivated to sell these as I am. I created a database for a lot of things on my own dealership website, and I actually allow my own customers to track their cars and cars that are ordered around the same time right here:

http://www.carsontoyota.com/priusorders.html

Dianne
car\ sontoyota.com
