On Saturday, a silver prius was behind me (white prius) on the San Francisco/Bay bridge at around 1:00 pm. Also saw another silver on the Buchanan on-ramp (to Albany) about 10 minutes later. Earlier that day, I parked behind a silver Prius in S.F. near City College. Saw 2 Prius parked on the street in Berkeley. I swear, I see at lease 4 or 5 a day... and sightings are increasing in number. George

My partner and I make a regular game of counting Toyota Prius and Honda Insight cars we see almost every time we drive around the Berkeley/SF Bay Area. We average between 2-4 hybrids on most trips, and a few times we've seen as many as 6 in one day. It seems like hybrids are taking over (this small, peculiar corner of) the world (sometimes <g>.)

Although some people say "Berzerkeley" is _not_ the center of the world, it sure seems to be at least one of the major hubs for hybrid-electric cars (no surprise.)

Of course, we cheat because we always make a point of driving down the same street around the corner from our house where neighbors own a Prius and an Insight. ;-)

- Peter
(Prius: Resistance is futile!)

About 3 weeks ago, we saw four Prius's within one block of each other. It was on Piedmont Ave. in Oakland. One green, one silver, and two white, small world. Of course, I was driving one of the white ones.

Don S.

I'm lobbying for designating Palo Alto as the HEV capital of the world, or at least of the SF Bay Area. I have an Aqua Ice on order, a neighbor 4 doors down just picked up his Silver Prius, a block away is a red Insight, and two blocks north I regularly see a Green Prius parked in front of someone's house. Sorry Berkeley -- maybe you should move down here? ;-)

-DanC

Maybe. But yesterday in or about Palo Alto I saw 6 Prius's, all in the space of 4 hours!

Saw 1 Aqua parked down the street from my office (in Belmont, so technically not Palo Alto)

Saw a 2nd Aqua going S on El Camino, and a 3rd Aqua (different plates) going N on Alma, both in Palo Alto.

Saw my 4th Prius, a sliver one, in my church parking lot in Menlo Park.

Saw a 5th Prius, a sliver one, on 101 in Palo Alto/Mtn View area.

And drove by my neighbor's silver Prius 4 doors down from my driveway.

And I don't even own a Prius yet! Although, now that they are so common, maybe I don't want one after all... NOT!

-DanC

Maybe you're right. I saw a Honda Civic with a ULEV sticker on the window-- I guess it was one of those natural gas-powered ones. But the Prius be stylin'.
Vetali
