I, or better yet, my father owns a 2001 Toyota Tundra 4WD i-Force V8 Limited. He is the type to beat the crap out of the car every now and then, and does not care or know much about car maintenance. It have many problems, so I hope you guys are ready to read. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) My main concern is the problem with the car stalling. When I crank the car, a lot of times it would turn over for 2 seconds, then the RPM will bog and it will be around 300-500 rpm, then die out. So I try to crank it again, but with partially throttle, but even like that it sometimes die out. And if there were any success in turning over the engine, I would encounter another problem.
When I'm just driving around the city, and the car would just die OUT OF NOWHERE, or when I come to a stop, or when I pop it into Neutral. One time when I was making a turn, the car died out-- no power steering. This has already happened 3 times to me, and I do not know how many times it had happened to my father.
I am not an automotive expert, but I know a little bit here and there. I have checked the air filter, seems fine. Even had the spark plugs replaced, but problem is still there. What could cause this, and how can it be fixed?
I partially blame my father, but I cannot blame him fully, because he is a very person and must travel long distances here and there for his job to support the family. Any help/advice/suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

On a side note, on the 2001 Tundra and also on my 2000 Land Cruiser I noticed that when I pop the transmission into Neutral, it sometimes die out. Sometimes I would just drive normally, and pop it into neutral, and the engine would just stall. It doesn't happen to any other car I drive, but just there two. Something must be wrong. Thanks. -Ray

I would try cleaning out the throttle body for starters. Get some brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner and a wire brush to clean it up with. When you remove the air intake "tube" you'll be able to look inside of the throttle body and you'll see a black residue and that is what you are wanting to clean out. What that is is carbon build up and its not allowing enough air to come into the throttle body causing it to stall out. Anyother ?s let me know
