I recently had an interesting thing happen to me. I was driving my MR2 out of the drive and when I turned left the suspension made a sound like someone struck it with a hammer. I thought...this can't be good. Then about 100 yards later I heard a scrape and a ching ching of some metal part falling onto the road. I stopped the car and ran back to see what the thing could be. It was about a half of a coil from my strut spring. The car sits normally and drives fine. None the less I went about the task of finding some springs and got an estimate of 300 dollars for both the front springs. Then I went here www.toyotaparts4u.com and found 4 springs for 200 dollars. I also entertained the eibach lowering springs but they lower the car an inch and I don't think my tires would fit as they are an inch from the wheel wells now. Fortunatly my brother has access to a lift and some air tools so it shouldn't be too hard to put them in. I figure a strut rebuild would be a good idea too. The springs and struts are from 1986 and have about 105000 miles on them.
I can't wait to see what this car handles like when the suspension is new!
-Mainsoda
