Hey guys,
OK, here's the story. I am a huge fan of toyota's, especially the classic ones (AE86, Supra, RWD Corolla's) On my way to school there is a car dealership, and I noticed a MKII Supra in the service lot, so one day I decide to go inside and ask about it. It turns out that the owner is a mechanic who now works there, and he's selling it for 300 dollars. (No, that's not a typo) I ran the VIN on carfax, did some research, and learned this car had orig paint (Toyota Super Red), wasn't a salvage, wasn't in an crashes floods hurricanes or whatever. It did come up with an issue on the odometer reading, which was 234k, and dropped down to 177k. I went back to the mechanic and asked him, turned out he swapped in another 5M-GE from another supra and the mileage is 177k.
I havn't taken the car out for a test drive yet but I did start the engine and did the walk around, the engine didn't burn any oil or anything and the car was in good shape (for its age). The only problem I saw with the car was slight rust (It is 24 years old, after all). I was thinking of purchasing it and making it my project car so I could hopefully enter into autocross.
Anyway, I was wondering if I should go ahead and purchase the car and do some work on it, or if it isn't even worth my time.
Thanks
