Got a new Prius 1220 on Monday. Several questions have come up and cannot find the answers in the manual. Gas Gauge...how do you read it. I have put 181 miles on my new car and it looks like it still reads full??? Regenerate on the consumption monitor what does that mean.

I am loving the new car and can't wait to see how it operates!

I think that the "regenerate" means that its sending at least some of the electrical power back to the battery pack.
I know that it will regenerate during braking and I also think that when its running on the gas engine that it will send some electricity back to the battery pack.
I cant help you with the gas gauge, Ive spent a little time riding with my neibor's wife in her Prius and thats how I know about the "regenerate" thing.

I way I read my gas guage and it is pretty accurate.
There are ten blocks/bar going across the gauge.
I count each bar as one gallon of gas.
I count the bars, and when I see only two bars, I know I must fill-up.

I've heard the gas tank is like a bellows and may not give you an accurate readout on fuel consumption.
I notice that I think I'm getting great mileage because the bars aren't going down as I am drivng, but fool me, the next morning I've gone down two bars; which when I look at my mileage makes sence, I can't run on fumes.

I am experienting and will now try to keep the tank always more than half full.
Two of my friends also have the Prius and also white ones.
We all enjoy driving the car.

no kidding about the gas bars. sometimes i can squeeze 110 miles out of the first bar. but at the end of my tank, i still end up with around 400 miles for the tank, no matter what i'm pacing at in terms of fuel bars.

Don't get me wrong - I love this car, but that thing you,re referring to is a "guess guage". Other cars do the same thing: hold full for a long time then start dropping fast. I fill mine as soon as it gets to 2 bars left. DON'T let your baby run out of fuel! That,s not a good thing:)
