i've heard of this before, but i don't remember what people said it was - anyway, when i engage the clutch/let the pedal up, i hear a rattling from tranny (assuming since its clutch related). it happens in gear or out, but it is loudest when not in gear.

anyone?

also, curious if you guys know of any digital repair manual for tercels? was just given this car and i'm going to need one as i'm typically a vw guy :P

A carrier bearing in trans or throwout bearing for clutch. Look at Autozone site under repair manuals, type in your car info and it will show u repair guides you can print them also. Free. A book will cost you $15-25 at the parts house.

Figured something along those lines...how bad is a tranny removal on these guys? Also, is the bearing something that will likely fail pretty quickly or just stay obnoxious? I'd like to wait until next spring to do this if possible...

Another symptom...is seems to really only do it when the outside temp is cooler ( <75 degrees), if that tells us anything.
