Hi Y'all- another newbie here with a question. What is the REAL mileage of newer Corollas? My '96 gets 29 in town and 36 on interstate at 75-78 mph. Can I better this with a newer model? Chime in, please. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sunce.gif)

Got a 2004 Corolla....also quite impressed with gas mileage. Around 37-41mpg I'm sure.

Thanks for the responses. I guess the additional 4-5 MPG for a newer model really isn't worth the investment until mine blows up. Thanks again, Rossbro

I have owned my 2008 Corolla for one year now and have noted that it appears to be much harder on gas than my previous vehicle was (2001 Civic). In Feb 2008, I took it to Toronto and tested it out to see what it might do over a long highway trip. I did 557 km on a tank of gas (well 42.524 litres to be exact).

Based on my calculations this represents ~ 7.7 litres per 100km which is terrible. I wrote the dealer and they wrote me off. I drive at about 130km per hour or so and it was at the freezing point on that trip iirc.

Liters Per 100k 7.70 = Miles Per Gallon (U.S.) 30.54

Not exactly good.

Tested again today (sorry for the double post).

233 km on 17.2 litres of gas... all highway.

Kilometer per 100 Litres 7.4
MPG (U.K. gallons) 38.70
Miles Per Gallon (U.S.) 32.22
Kilometer Per Liter 13.70
