I have a 2000 4Runner SR5 Sport (hood scoop opened), 5-speed manual transmission with TRD supercharger, TRD supercharger belt tensioner, TRD cat-back exhaust, TRD air filter (air box opened), and TRD brake pads. I have Toyo Proxes S/T tires (+ 1 size) on 16" five spoke OEM rims. I have over 325 hp and over 350 ft?lb of torque from these modifications. I am the original owner, with about 95K miles. I have never taken my truck off-roading, but I do live in the NYC area. So some streets have craters as potholes and there is often heavy stop- and-go traffic. I only use 93 octane fuel, Chevron Techron fuel treatment every 10K miles, and fully synthetic motor oil (20W-50) every 5K miles. I am current with all the OEM maintenance scheduling. I have had my rear differential go bad twice before, but got it covered under my Toyota extended warranty. Now this is the third time, and I am really quite pissed. I am no longer under warrarnty and my mechanic tells me it is going to cost around $2K (parts & labor) to fix. He has told me several times in the past that the rear differential can not handle the stress exerted from the supercharger and modifications. TRD USA disagrees with him and tells me my case is an isolated problem. I trust my mechanic, whom also is a Toyota master mechanic and the dealer's service manager, but I am disappointed in the quality of Toyota 4Runner's rear differentials. I will need to replace it with something stronger and higher durability. I drive my truck hard, but not recklessly. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I use a different Toyota truck's differential? Can I use the TRD limited slip differential? Will that solve this problem? I am open to using non-Toyota parts if they are better quality and an accurate fit. Thank you for your time. - Freddy

You might look at what Toyota is using in the new runners with the V-8. You might all so look into a Ford 8.8 or go for the big $$$ and call Cuirre. rockstarcondoms

With all that TRD mods u did, I am pretty sure you can afford to pay for the repair.

Thanks. It's not about the money, but merely correcting an ongoing severe mechanical issue. I wasn't questioning my assets or asking for donations in case you got confused.
