I have had my Celica for 3 years now and in the last 6-8 months a red 4WS light appears intermittently next to the petrol light on the right hand side of the dashboard. I have checked the steering fluid but that is fine - just a bit concerned as to whether it is a warning light or just an electrical blip. Also my headlights now wink! The right hand light doesn't always flip up. I am given to understand this could be the relay however we've swopped the relays over and it still doesn't lift itself. "Mark" has given me a couple of ideas i.e. some wires rubbing against some metal and shorting for the red light. (I can live with this but want to make sure that the red light is not a genuine warning light) and that the signal is going into the relay to trigger the motor for the headlight. Any ideas? Jane

check the multi pin connector that connects the headlight, i had the same problem and it was corrosion on a couple of the pins

i had the same trouble with my right light. might sound silly but take the sidelight off and u should be able to get ur hand thru the hole to get to the connector that actually goes to the motor it's a bunch of about 6 wires, probably a bad connection here on the wire that winds the motor up. u can hand wind the light up thru an access hole directly under the motor, u'll see a knob that is on a spindle that is the end of the motor axle. use this hole to look thru to locate the wires, with the sidelight removed light will shine thru and lying under the car looking up towards the sidelight hole u should spot the motor control wires. hoik the connector out the sidelight hole and jjjjjjiggle it a bit. see if that cures ur light flip up. if it does checkout ur connector..cheers stomper
