I recently backed out of the garage and dented my father's '02 sequoia's bumper cover. He and I decided that it's not worth it to pay a shop a bunch of money to replace the bumper without trying to fix it ourselves, first. First of all, how do I remover the bumper cover? And secondly, does anyone have any tips for removing a very large dent without cracking the plastic? I'm hoping that I can get it to look as close to how it was before and use some touchup paint for the scratches. Thanks for any suggestions!!!

One trick I heard is use a hair dryer and use a hammer.

You direct the hair dryer on the dent on the bumper for few minutes. Than use a hammer and get to the inside of the bumper to hammer it out.

If you can not access the inside of the bumper, than you have to take off the bumper.

One thing that happen to me is, I had a medium size dent on my bumper. It was sitting in the hot sun while I was at the bank. It took longer than I thought. When I came back out, the dent was gone.

So try get your car sitting under the hot sun in direct sunlight and see if that solve the problem or not.

Unfortunately, it's a bit too big of a dent to pop out on it's own. That happened with a dent in my camry's bumper. I also can't get to the dent without taking the bumper off. Thanks for the hair dryer suggestion. I'll give it a shot. If there are any other tips that anyone has, I'd love the help.
