I just got my first car - a 2001 Toyota Avalon and I love it. There are a few wires hanging out from an XM radio that was previously installed. Does anyone have any tips on removing the radio. The wire comes out from a crack between the radio and the vents above them.

I also plan on installing a new deck eventually, so any help would really be appreceated.

I actually got a reply to this in a PM
QUOTE
I just removed and replaced my OEM radio.

I had to remove the ash tray and the plastic plate behind it.
Then I had to rempve the center A/C vents.

Once that was done, I was able to remove the radio by unbolting its bracket (two bolts on top, two bolts below) and unplugging the wires.

All you may need to do is temove the center AC vent. It pulls straight out, with some gentle persuation by a thin pry bar. Once it is 1/4 inch or so out of the dash, it removes easily and snaps back in. I seem to recall a switch up there too, but w/o being in the car, I really don't recall... Hazards/ 4-way flashers I think. I had to unplug it as well.

I'm just posting this for anyone who needs future reference. I have drawings that came with the radio if someone needs them PM me.
