I bought my first 4runner (2002 Sport, 103K, well maintained)
a couple of months ago. I plan to use it for exploring Nevada
back country where the roads are dirt and washouts are
possible.
I noticed a perfume/cologne scent in the car but thought it
would dissipate quickly.
I discovered several spilled sample bottles of perfume/cologne
in the upper tray in the armrest. Running the tray through the
dishwasher didn't help, so I replaced the tray.
The odor has dissipated some, but is still noticable to me.
Any suggestions on how to remove it? I let it air out as much
as possible, but am not sure that's doing any good. I've read
of ionizers that apparently remove odors but they have to be
rented. A large tray of baking soda hasn't been tried, but I
suspect it will only remove odor in the air, not neutralize
the source of the odor.
I have thought of having all the upholstery (all cloth) steam
cleaned.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
