Ok, been a bad day. STILL, can't say I'm too impressed with the tires. Normal city driving, had a lot of stones build up in the tread of the tires. Cleaned out the rocks this morning getting ready for the first real road trip. After cleaning out the rocks from the tread, I drive two miles to the inlaws and discover a bunch or rocks in the tread and a screw puncture. Normal city streets, no construction. So, do I have the priviledge of being the first in the group to go have a tire patched?

Tom

Gee Tom,

No one mentioned to you that those stones in the tire groves are there for protection from screw and nail punctures? <grin>

Sorry you got the first flat!

Dwight

That's exactly how I felt after clearing the treads of the stones. :)

Does my Prius get the first purple heart?

let me know how the Toyota road hazard warranty goes. My tires seem to be made out of magnets if there is a nail anywhere aroung it will find its way into my tire.

I always get good use out of the Costco tire warranty.

Well from what I can determine from the tire information given to me with the owners manual, there is no road hazard warranty. If someone thinks differently and can point me in the right direction in the material, I'd appreciate it because I'm going later today to get the tire patched.

Tom

Usually, tire waranty is from the manufacturer, not the car company. You should have a separate warranty folder for the tires (Bridgestone?). Also, as has been said numerous times, the car has been optimized for 87 octane gas. Putting in higher octane will not improve mileage. (The only instance it will is if the station you are buying your gas from is "watering" the gas.)

US Prius cars include a brochure which describes the 3-yr./36,000-mile "Toyota Prius Roadside Assistance Program." I don't believe this is included in Canada.

On the 3rd page (inside) it says: "... For the term of the warranty, reimbursement will be provided up to $20 per incident for the repair of a flat tire damaged by a road hazard* [note the asterisk, explained farther down in the text]. ..."

The brochure goes on to describe under what conditions Toyota will even pay for a _replacement_ tire, and they'll even pay for the replacement of a damaged alloy _wheel_ if need be. If you didn't get this brochure with the car, call the special Roadside Assistance INFO/AUTHORIZATION number (888)-567-7786. The EMERGENCY number is 877-304-6495.

Thanks! I missed the brochure. The only one I saw was the tire warranty info from Bridgestone which stated that road hazards were not covered. Now, I wonder if the reimburse since I already got it fixed? I'll give em a call.
