California is starting to put incentive money on
the table toward the purchase of hybrids. In the San
Joaquin Valley (8 counties), a $2,000 incentive is being
provided.

a>) This is presently the most generous program in
the state. The incentives are being administered
through the local Air Pollution Control
Districts.<br><br>Here in San Diego, there's now a little movement! I
have been in contact with Chuck Spagnola, the
"vehicle" contact with the San Diego APCD
(<a href=http://www.sdapcd.co.san-diego.ca.us/
target=new>http://www.sdapcd.co.san-diego.ca.us/</a>). I have also been in
contact with Irene Salazar
(clean vehicle incentive contact) with the CA Energy
Commission ("CEC").<br><br>Spagnola and others from the San
Diego APCD are scheduled to meet next week with the CEC
to discuss implementing an incentive program which
will probably include hybrids. CEC WANTS San Diego
(and other counties) to institute these programs --
and the incentive money IS available for the taking!
The counties just need to sign on! NOW is the time
for US to lobby our local politicians in an effort to
encourage them to get this program going. If we're
successful, we might even see $2,000 (or more) toward the
purchase of Prii scheduled to be delivered this summer!
Let's get this done!
