I have a creaking/popping noise in the driver's seat of my 2004 4Runner that occurs with the slightest movement or bump in the road. It seems to be coming from the area where the seat belt clasp is attached to the seat. It is like sitting in a creaky old rocking chair on your grandparents front porch, but not nearly as pleasant. I have a Limited with leater seats. The vehicle has 30,000 miles. I thought about spraying the area with a lubricant but I am afraid I could harm some electronics if I did. Any tips or advise? Anyone know if this would be covered by the warranty? Mark.

This is a common complaint with the 4th gen 4runners. Have the dealer look at it. It should be covered under warranty. Some of the fixes I've heard of was replacing the seat or just tightening a bolt. -Bobby '04 SE V8 >

It'll be covered under warranty. Try that first. A little bit of lubricant won't hurt the electronics.but don't spray directly on them. Thanks, Andy

Spraying it should be fine but must only use the special genuine Toyota OEM spray lubricant which is only available at your Toyota dealer's parts department in a red can with a Toyota logo. Holds 4 oz.s, costs $24.95, part # BNDOVR-AGN. Any other oil or spray will void your warranty and cause all kinds of problems. Don't be fooled into using that WD40. You can use it on your other vehicles but not the Toyota.
