I have an 89 Toyota Camry. It has a manual transmission. There is a security feature to the car in which you must hold the brights on while you push the clutch in to start the vehicle. If you don't hold the brights on the car horn will honk every time you try to turn the key to start the car. I just bought the car 2 weeks ago and haven't had a problem, but today when I tried to start the car the security feature (horn honk) kept happening when I turned the key, even though I was holding the brights in. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Any advice??

That's the most bizarre story I've ever heard! Does the owner's manual document this feature?

If it's real, I would suspect the relay that is triggered by the headlight flash lever. Have no idea where it is.

The car didn't come with an owner's manual, but I could probably access one thru google. I am pretty sure this was a feature someone added to the car at a later point...so I am not sure if the manual will mention it. I had never heard of a system like this either! I actually thought it was kinda funny that you had to hold the brights on to start the car, but I never thought it would cause a problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)
