This is my first post, sorry, but I really need help. I was deployed for 15 months, and my 1991 Toyota DLX (pickup, 3.0L EFI v6) sat in a storage shed. On leave, I replaced the thermostat (Last February). I came back in November, and started having the same problems. So I replaced the thermostat again and the water pump. I put HEET in the tank to get all the condensation out of the lines. Then I changed all the fluids out. It went through a tank of gas, and then I put Gumout in the tank to clean the gunk and corrosion out of the system. It never hurt it before. I drove down a quarter tank of gas, and drove home with no problem. I went out 10 minutes later to look at the front speakers, and tried to start it. It turned, but immediately began to sputter and die. I quickly gave it gas and it died. I cranked it again and as it did the same thing, I slowly gave it gas to 2000rpms and held it without a problem. As soon as I left off the pedal, it sputtered and died. Regardless of where the rpms are at, if I give her gas quickly she'll die. It now takes some coaxing to get her started, but when she does, she starts up strong (2000rpms as she should), and dies within three minutes if left alone. I LOVE my Toyota truck, and would be VERY grateful if you all helped me to figure out whats wrong with her. Thank you!!

i'm new here but i had a a 92 4runner with the v6 once that acted kind of like that and it was the mass air flow sensor. i think your chilton book shows a way to test the sensor with a ohm meter. but if thats not it it could be your fuel filter

First thing I would do would be to see if there are any CEL error codes.
If you download an FSM, the procedure is in the EFI section.
