Hi all,
My front right side-light lens has come off somewhere - fell off or was pryed
off. Anyhow, it
looked like it was held on by dabs of glue holding it to the grey plastic
structure underneath.
I'm less than confident that that is the work of the Toyota factory, especially
as it looks like
the grey plastic structure that the lens was glued to was cut to fit the contour
of the lens
rather roughly with an exacto knife. It looks like a hack adaptation of a part
that is for the
same grille but a different lens. My left lens seems a little loose, and from
what I can tell is
stuck on with glue. Is this the way these are built? Does anyone know of a part
number or
source for lenses? Mine is a '91 Super Custom Limited.

Hmmm... ok well it looks like the lens has come off before and someone has used a hot melt glue gun to hold the lens back in place. It hasn't taken to the lens plastic however, and has subsequently fallen off.

From the factory, the clear part of the lens is fusion bonded to the body of the lamp. It's a type of melding rather than a glue, as glues invariably come adrift after a period of time.

I don't recognise the style of the light fitting - then again there are a lot of differences based on what country a particular van is destined for.

Can you post some photos of the opposite side unit?
