I asked before if anyone had ideas on the best wax for the car and got no answer. Well I'll try again. Any suggestions for brand/type of car wax is best?

Thanks -

I hadn't been on egroups site in a while. The email responses make for longer reading. Thanks for the address. I didn't have to read all 11,000 + comments to get the information I wanted.

In Message 5331 Fakefish asked:
> Any suggestions for brand/type of car wax is
> best?
Using Zymol wash and wax because:
1) recommended here multiple times
2) no silicon/one which is alleged to "crack" clear-coat"
3) all-natural and good for your skin
Seems to work very well. Wax is a bit different to use - rub on and off: don't let it dry. Then "mist" and spit-shine.

Never thought I'd have to use a step-stool to wash/wax my Prius!
bp

I don't believe wax was ever mentioned on this club you may be referring to egroups/yahoo site. I have read all the posted messages on this site and did not see any reference to wax nor did a search reveal any references to auto wax. But anyway thanks for the information.

The car's roof is a little high.

Wax recommendations are given by GCKorn msg#2254, John1701A #2256, rogerape #2629 and there is Zymol that is carried by at least some dealers.
I would suggest that everyone keep a notebook with the message numbers and topics of of interest to them. I have a little over 6 pages of notes on the the things I feel best address the subjects I want to remember. For me the info is mostly on wax, oil, tire pressure/tires, low sulfur gas, the XPel "bra", and cruise control.
My last tank of gas cost $1.68 in Indianapolis. The station down the street was at $1.73 that morning and by noon was $1.79. I suspect that gas in Indy will be going up because of the "don't give a damn about gas wasteage" crowd at the Indy 500.

Zeke

Yeah brother!

I'm 6' and prefer to wear scrubs when washing Baby.

A step-stool keeps my top-end alot drier.
(plus I can sit on it when doing the wheels)

I'm using a 20-yr old can of Turtle-Wax lately.

It sounds like your product, apply while wet, hose off to "set", then rub dry. After using the wax, I cleaned off 2 weeks of mega-tar with a brush and Zip-Wax wash.

(I tried this even though I finally found my bottle of bug 'n tar remover gel--I was amazed at how the sponge wiped off the tar using just the Zip soap)

Jeff--NEVER use silicone--I tried my trusty aviation "wax" and had to use 3M finish restorer polish to get it right again.

(funny, my other cars loved it)
