I have a 1999 Solara. My wife (bless her heart) has lost every key except the one that opens the driver's door and starts the engine. We have to open the trunk from inside the car. The Toyota dealership says they can't make more keys without the master because without it they don't have the code. I'lm afraid of what happens when she loses this last key. I am just amazed that Toyota can't provide a new key or at least some solution for our Solara. Any suggestions?

I'd check with Toyota Customer Service. I think there is a way of creating a new set of computer/key codes and then cutting keys to match. The other alternative, though verry expensive, is a new set of locks and keys. I'd try an auto wrecker/recycler for that first. Careful about getting keys from ebay or other sites. I've heard stories of blank keys which didn't work; they had no internal chips. I've never experienced that but it has been on some other forums. Good luck and let us know how you make out with this problem. HY
