I'd like to get new speakers for my car, but I don't want any huge speakers or anything, just better quality sound. I'm not looking for speakers that make the car shake when the base is on. Anyone have any good brands that I should look into?

I like Pioneer speakers, but I am a bit old fashioned and have used Pioneer for centuries. There may be better out there now.

I put a Pioneer head unit and speakers in my car. I hooked all of that up to a Soundstream amp.

Bose sound really good but they're too expensive, so that's why I went with Pioneer.

I have installed a Kenwood speakers and they sounds very good.
I would suggest you to install the stereo and the speaker from the same brand, most of the time they fit more each other and sounds better.

it depends on a few thigs first you really need to replace your stereo because most aftermarket speakers have different ohm ratings. after that you need to decide if you want a amplifier if so there are many choices out there. for example polk audio, mb quart, boston acoustics, alpine, jbl and infinity just to name a few. but if you only replace your stereo pioneer speakers work real well of the power the stereo puts out allways remember to look for RMS power ratings not max. so do a little research and find what works for you.
