Hi,

The speedometer of my 1993 Toyota Corolla is not working properly. It would stuck at 0 when I start driving it. Then about 10 minutes or so later it would suddenly rapidly go all the way to about 55 mph. If then I press on the brake gently or otherwise it would quickly go all the way down to 0 and stuck there and the cycle repeat about every 10 minutes. What is the most likely cause of the problem? Does it look like I need to replace the instrumentation cluster?

I've had that and it was nothing more than the cabling. Have you checked that out?

It is great to hear from someone who had the same exact problem! Thanks! Did you have to replace the cable or it was just loose? I will consult with a repair manual to locate it and see what I can do first.

I just had it replaced ...it was going in for some routine maintenance anyway, so I just got the mechanic to do it.
