I have a '78 FJ40 that I use as a trail rig only... except driving to and from the trails, it never sees the road. I have classic car registration but can't pass instpection unless I have a working odometer. My speedometer/odometer isn't working. I started out by checking the instrument panel... everything is where is belongs. Next, I checked the cable and it seemed ok too. Next, I pulled the cable from the transfer case and hooked up a drill to it... the speedometer worked. So by process of elimination, the problem is in the transmission or transfer case. Is there a "quick fix" for this or am I looking at a taking my driveline apart? Any help will be appreciated. Cam
