Hey guys.. I'm new to this forum. I got a problem on my 1992 Toyota Pickup 4x4 3.0 Extended Cab. When i bought the truck my speedometer would act up. I would crank the truck up and go about maybe 2 miles before the speedometer would come on. When it did it would jump from 0 to however fast i was going in an instant. Now, the speedometer doesnt even come on at all. My miles are still rolling and my gauges are still working properly... only the speedometer isnt working. I have an automatic transmission.. I went under the truck and looked at my speed sensor and made sure the connections were good and it didnt look like it was in bad shape at all. But i figured since my mileage was still rolling, then the speed sensor would still be working.. Does this mean I need a new speedometer or what?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thanks.

Hummm...
Mine was doing the same... Needle jumping wildly all over and intermittently it would work. Mileage meeter Not working either. The whole thing died and has not come back to life.
Dealer wants about $400 for a Speed sensor and NO junkyards have ANY Toy Pickups.
1993 4X4 Toy pickup.

Sounds like the speedo gauge in the instrument cluster is bad. I think it can be replaced separately, but a entire cluster from a salvage yard may be easier. It can be from a 2WD or 4WD, truck or 4Runner, 4 cyl or 6 cyl (you can adjust the tach to work with either), 89-95.
