Are you asking about coilovers? I haven't heard of an adjustable spring before. CloNeGTS

Coilovers replace the spring/shock set. Instead of the two being seperate from each other, the shock goes down the middle of the spring. They are made into a single unit this way. The biggest advantage of a coilover suspension other than the handling changes is the ability to change the ride height. The spring shares the upper mount with the shock, the shock then hooks to the hub, and the spring rests on a threaded plate that screws up and down on the shock. By adjusting that screw plate you change the ride height from maybe sitting your car on the ground to stock height. I have heard that simply changing the height really isn't as easy as grabbing the wrench and cranking them down. A friend of mine that had coilovers on his Z24 said it took him 5 hours to get them set up the first time (just the height on them all, not install). Anyone else have input on this? CloNeGTS

There is no such thing as simply a "Readjustable Spring". Generally, replacement springs will be thicker than stock, and stiffer, to give a better handling feel, provide stability, lower the cars center of gravity, and privide a Rougher ride. Some progressive rate springs do lower the car and give better performance without sacrificing straight ahead driving comfort or "smoothness", but when cornering or driving aggressively, they become progressively (thus the name) stiffer to increase handling. The only way to get adjustable ride height is to go with a Coil-Over kit that integrates an adjustable shock/strut with spring and replaces the entire factory shock/strut assembly. Coil Over kits are then threaded to allow the owner to adjust ride height, and to some degree, ride comfort. Coil Over kits usually run about $400 give or take, which is more than springs alone, but if you replace springs and shocks/struts, the price will be very close to simply going with a coil over kit. jem did his springs and it seemed to handle ok, mine are standard and and 100k mikes feel ook, must admit i've never noticed any major weight shift or body roll! would reccommend changing your anti roll bar bushes for poly bushes from fensport. does your tems go hard under hard acceleration?

I think I mentioned it before.... The springs definitely firmed up the ride in Medium & Hard settings but in the soft setting they could become a little uncomfortable over country roads...especially with a load of people in the car - being progressive springs, the more weight you put on them the more resistance they create and so additional vehicle weight meant the spring was quite strong...which the shocks didn't handle too well.   Depends what you want from the car, if you want to run on hard suspension and want excellent handling, yeah, get the springs. If you want comfort over bumpy irish country roads, don't bother.   Jem

I dont mind losing some ride quality for the sake of handling or reducing weight transfer, the rolls not excessive i think im just too fussy, every car previous to this ive uprated the shocks/springs, the celi handles really well no sudden on the limit shocks(waitng for some 4wheel steer problems) but it seem a bit wallowy, hopefully this w/e ill try that tems overide mod, I've come to the conclusion thta the shocks are ok so thats why im wondering about the springs.

yes the tems goes hard under acceleration but then drops to norm when things level out i kinda thought the uprated springs would reduce the shift a little without the car being upset by mismathing springs/shocks, I,ve replaced the standard rear roll bar bushes with toy parts but i'll uprate the front with fensport, does it make a big difference?

the poly bushes seemed a lot quieter, definitely less body roll.
