I have a 1991 pervia with a 2.4 ltr and automatic. it has been a
wonderful van. I purchased it in the spring for $1600.00, a great buy.
I love it. I have driven it 25,000 miles with out issue. Now, the only
problem I have is, since it has gotton cold, in the mornings, and
after it has cooled off, the first time I engage the starter,it sticks
on. I can turn it to the start position , then to the off position and
the starter will run for a few seconds. If I start it, the starter
will stay on for a few seconds, causing it to make a grinding sound. I
don't let that happen, I am trying not to damage the starter or ring
gear. My question is "what is causing the problem". Does it have a
starter relay switch or is it a sticky selinoid. If it is a selinoid
can I spray it with liquid wrench as a temp. fix, or should I gust
stop being so cheap and buy a starter? Has anyone had this problem, if
so what did you do? Thanks RB
