Hi,

After turning off the engine today, I accidentally put clockwise force on the steering wheel .I heard a click . It looks like the steering wheel got locked. I'm unable to lock it. They key doesn't turn(I have foot on the brake). I also cant seem shift the gear stick.

What have I done? Please advise. It is 2003 Toyota Corolla LE.

Try jiggling the steering wheel left and right while turning the key, that should do it.

I remember the first time I did this. It totally freaked me out. But, like humanoid said, just pull the steering wheel to the left and turn the key at the same time. No big deal...
BTW, does anyone know why they created this feature in cars? It's more annoying than anything else... Is it a security thing?
