I have a 2000 toyota corolla LE.

A short strange sound comes when i do the following:

-- I start the car after it has been been turned off for at least 10-15 min. Then while backing out or coming out of the driveway, i inevitably turn the steering wheel a couple of times. Then as soon as I move the car 5-6 feets forward, it gives a low pitch strange sound.....not a whine or a squeak but something different....i couldn't describe it in words, so i attached a sound clip :).....it lasts for only a sec and feels like some air that was locked is released suddenly and that is what causes that sound...but i ain't sure....it cud be anything....don't know a lot abt cars

the other problem which is kind of easy to describe is the faint whining sound that comes when i turn my steering wheel to the extreme right or left.....from the threads i have gone through, it seems it cud be bcos of low fluid, or bad serpentine belt or maybe bad steering pump.

is the first problem too related to power steering system?

any help is appreciated!!!

Thanks
randy

Hello,

If you have not solved the problem by this time, the sound comes from the belts.

Tighten up or replace if you find it eroded.
