2001 Toyota Highlander having strong engine odor... what is the best solution should I take it to the auto shop or is it a way to repair it myself?

What kind of an odor is it? Burning oil? Burning rubber? It could be something as simple as some oil that was spilt on the last oilchange and that is causing the odor.
Dont take it in to the shop if its a simple fix you can do yourself.
