My Supra '91 stock deck is a cassette/cd combo and I believe there a power amp under the passenger sit. I am want to upgrade the head unit to normal head that you would find at Best Buy. And I would like to use the stock amp to power the stock speaker, etc.

My question: is the signal going into the Amp a Line In or a Speaker In. Or is there any adapter that would use the stock Amp with a aftermaker head?

Thanks,
Thanh Truong

Amps go in line between the deck and the speaker. That means the speaker out line from the deck runs to the amplifier, the signal gets boosted, and then put out to the speakers.

Assuming your radio doesn't have any direct control over the amplifier -like an AMP ON switch- then you can just hook your new radio right into the system with no problems.

I just went through this exact scenario about 4 months ago. I think circuit city had an adapter in there shop that would work. I ended up getting rid of the whole stock system because it still didnt sound good enough.
dominic 91t
