HEY EVERYONE, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR ALL OF YOU . IT SEEMS LIKE MY BRAKES JUST START TO WORK WHEN EVER THEY FEEL LIKE IT AND NOT WHEN I WOULD NEED THEM TO WORK. DRAINED EVERYTHING BEFORE AND THEY WHERE JUST PERFECT BUT RECENTLY HAD MY EIBACHS AND TOKICOS PUT IN ( DEALER) AND NOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THIS IS HOW IT WORKS ( OR DOESN'T !) WHEN I KICK DOWN THE PEDAL THE FIRST TIME IT WORKS PERFECT. SECOND TIME AROUND THERE IS NO PRESSURE AT ALL. EVEN TRYING TO PUMP IT DOES NOT HELP ( WHICH USUALLY WORKS IF THERE IS AIR IN THE SYSTEM ) DID ANYONE REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER ? HOW MUCH WOULD I HAVE TO SPEND FOR A CYLINDER ( I'LL PUT IT IN MYSELF, JUST THE PART ) ANYBODY EVER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND KNOWS WHAT IT COULD BE ? HOPE YOU GUYS CAN HELP HERE. THANKS TRISH P.S. JUST CAME BACK FROM THE NY "IMPORT CAR SHOW" WHERE WE HAD A : SUPRA ONLY EVENT GOING ON. HAD LOTS OF FUN, AND AS SOON AS I'LL HAVE PICS I'LL MAIL THEM OUT. SEPTEMBER MEET WILL BE : SEPTEMBER 11 - 13, 99 IN ORANGE COUNTY, NY. TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT IT.

First, I must ask, does the car have ABS (antilock brakes)?

OK, then yes, I would say the master cyllinder is bad. A good remanufactured M.C. should run you about 50.00 with a lifetime warranty. The labor is a breeze. Just make sure to have plenty of DOT 4 or DOT 5 brake fluid on hand and bleed the brakes very well before driving it again. Good Luck, Dave Grayzanic

trish, if you want the brake master to last buy the factory one, aftermarket or rebuild doesn't hold up. That comes from 18 years of working on toyota's. expensive ($180) but worth it. good luck Jesse
