I'm thinking about buying a short wheel base 70 series, with the intention of dropping a Toyota 'Lexus' V8 into it (what they call Lexus, but I assume comes out of some sort of normal Japanese sedans). I plan to get a bellhousing custom made to fit the V8 to whatever gearbox the 70 series has. Does anyone know about the different types of SWB 70-series, and how the drivetrain differs on the different models? I want to buy a cruiser with the strongest possible drivetrain to begin with. I think that I need a Diesel SWB 70 series, for strongest gearbox/diffs, but I'm not sure. Maybe the Bundera would handle better due to the better suspension, but would the gearbox and diffs be a lot weaker, and could you upgrade these to the same as the stronger 70 series components? Does anyone know what the exact differences are between 70 series models, and what the advantages of buying certain types over others would be? I also want to put big wheels on it and lift the body. Since I'll be needed an engineers report for the engine, it could also cover the big wheels and body lift. What size big wheels and what amount of body lift do people like on the 70 series SWB? Thanks, Simon Canberra AUSTRALIA
