Just got my new 2009 Tacoma Double Cab Long bed 2 weeks ago. Had to wait 2 months for it as there was no models in my area that had the JBL stereo with sub woofer option. When I got the truck, the stero sounded good, but I just listen to the FM radio. When I got Home Put some CDs in it and almost immediatly notice a crakling static popping sound that randomly came from the rear speakers. Upon further inspection I notices the sound issues were coming from all Three rear speakers including the Subwoofer.

I later heard the same interference sounds while listneing to XM Satellite stero as well as the FM reciever, though the occurence was not often.
Anyone having any simlar issues with this stereo and Speaker system?

Of course I brought it back to the dealer and they are blaming My CDs saying the interference is coming from my burnt CDs. I'll have to go back with Store bought CDs and re-demonstrate this issue to them. However, they say there is little they can do with this issue.

Anyone please help cause I'm really fustrated on this.

Hi,

I had the SAME problem and Toyota can fix your problem. Given it is under warranty, I'm not too in the know about stereos but it turns out to be that the unit we have has a built in amp, which is the distortion noise we are hearing. Took it to my dealership and they said it is a common problem and the unit is on back order. Back order will take appx 3-4 weeks but after that hopefully no more crackling :) Take it to another dealership if you wish, and state that you are covered under warranty and you shouldn't have a problem.

I am having a similar problem with the 2009 Tacoma double cab jbl system: low static rumbling from what sounds to be only the sub. Two days after I drove it off the lot I began to notice it with disc playing only. I have yet to spend a lot of time listening with sat radio or my ipod, but there is definite malfunction. The dealer tried telling me it was probably my CD's since they were burned so I told him to drive up another new Tac 2009 with the same jbl system and we'll compare. There was no rumbling at all.
After 1 1/2 days in the shop they called me back and said they fixed the problem by re-insulating the sub. To my disappointment it was not fixed.

Does this sound like the same problem?

same issue here.

I picked up my '09 in April. Sound issues right off the bat. Dealership tried telling me not to use burned cd's, which I wasn't. The sound problem was not predictable but it persisted. It was not a source ie, cd, radio etc... issue.

My Toyota dealership admitted there is a problem and replaced the stereo a week ago. It sounded great for 5 days then it started up again today. They DO NOT HAVE A FIX. My rep said Toyota is coming out with a bulletin and will have a fix in a few months... I don't know if this is just a line to appease me in the short term. He seemed more worried about his f*cking rating on the service survey than my trucks sound issues.

So I am supposed to drive around for how long and put up with this crappy sound? Not a happy consumer here...

Don't mean to hijack you're thread but I have a 2009 Tacoma trd sr5 4x4 4d sb and don't have a sub woofer. I want to install a factory sub and I am wondering if the wiring already exist. You know, can I mount, plug and play? I did this once with a glove box light. I found the wiring with a plug, bought the light from the dealer, plugged in and snapped the light in the mounting hole and bingo. Pics of your sub would help. thanks and good luck.
