I drive 70,000 miles per year. I am driving a Jetta TDI. It has 227,000 on it. I need to replace it in the next year or so. It has been good, dependable, no glitches. My MPG is around 45-49 on a day to day basis. I am fascinated with the Hybrid technology. What MPG can I expect day in and day out? Most of my miles are highway, but not all. I live in a heavy snow belt in the great lakes. I run winter tires on the Jetta. Will the Toyota run 300,000 miles. If so, I want to talk to someone that has done this! I have driven Volvo's well over 300,000. The price of fuel is ruling out Volvo. My Jetta should run over 300,000. I appreciate your feedback. Pat

i don't know of anyone who has driven a prius 300,00, just 100,000, a cabbie in Canada, think it was vancouver a few years back. Toyota gave him a new Prius. I'm approaching 90,000 and i get an average of 48-50mpg. Vivian Pat

we are thinking a used PRIUS in the next few months, one with about 30K on it. What is the story with the battery and if they fail and the cost of a new one etc., i have heard horro stories but maybe i need to ask you all who drive them. Often where we live a 04 or a 05 Prius is available . Love to hear from you all. also, can the back seat of this car be taken out without major hassle. thanks carlent VIVIAN VIVIAN

we have a RAV4 now and the back seat just picks up and lifts out. Nice feature. I suppose I can just go in and unbolt the back seat of a 04/05 Prius. We do a lot of carrying of groceries (we own a restaurant) Thanks for your imput......lots of stuff on the Prius out there, battery stories etc., Some say that their Prius 04 I think had just stopped running in the middle of the streat due to a recent recall. Ever heard of that? carlent Linda
