My TEMS system is not working. On my digi-dash, the hard and soft lights flash
on and off in unison, and the suspension is stuck on hard. Has anyone ever encountered this?
What was the fix? the suspension has been good till now, or at least consistent since I
got the vehicle it 23,000 km ago. Hard feels hard and soft feels soft. I will say it does not take
much for the rear to sit lower than the front; almost seems it might do that a little when
it's empty. Is the suspension likely to wear out any quicker if it stays on stiff? Any thought appreciated. . .

Although I really dont know for sure Pard, I can imagine that TEMS is very simialr to other electronically adjustable susp on other Toyotas - for example I had a Prado with hard/soft button, and it defaulted to soft ride when one of the front shocks packed it in. I didnt take it apart, but replaced entirely with Old Man Emu. I think TEMS would be similar? (and super expensive to replace if indeed you need new shocks). Maybe try wiggling the wiring harnesses on each shock? Moisture problem maybe - just guessing here....

TEMS is great when it's new.

I had a Toyota Supra with it in - and it never worked. The shocks pack up and the electronics that control them often give problems as well.

You are better off to get a good set of performance shocks and forget about the TEMS.

Well, Pro-active in calgary fixed the system. It had been shorted out by power steering fluid bubbling over and shorting out the inline coolant heater that had been put in upside- down by the importer. So both systems were re-wired, a new heater put in with the plug facing up, and it shouldn't happen again. I hope this does not happen to any other Outback Imports Customers. I will let Outback know about this problem.
