Hi everyone, my AC was dead for about two years; I decided to take it to a local AC repair center. They told me that the problem was with the evaporator. When cold the car used to have a little of rough idle, now after the AC repaired (the compressor now turns on) the following symptoms arose:

1.Maybe due to more load to the engine, the idle seems to be rougher
2.The P/S and Compressor belt used to “skip” (that was fixed)
3.The AC works intermittent
a. Sometimes when the car is cold the AC will work
b. Sometimes you will listen “clicking” sounds, seems to be a relay. Still not sure if it’s the compressor or “inside” the car. (It seems to be inside)

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Three things normaly go bad with an AC system.

1) Pump will wear out.
2) Clutch on the pump will wear out.
3) Leakly hose or a leak someplace.

I don't think it was the evaporator as they don't go bad vary often. Nothing in them to really go bad. Just a bunch of tubing.

The clicking should be normal. It's a relay under the dash turning the pump off and on.

I sound like the shop you took it to did not charge the system correctly. AKA, too much or not enough. But I can't tell you from here. Take it to another shop or the dealer and have them check.
