Hello, I have a 1992 Tercel, 4 door DX. The car is in good condition overall, under coated regularly with oil, drivers side rear door has bad rot at base of window frame and rockers are starting to rust some, but it has been a model of relibility that I have never seen. I put 13" 1990 coralla sr5 aluminum lace pattern wheels on in the summer, In winter stock wheels with trim rings. I have an aftermarket cd player in it and it wears a bra in summer, otherwise stock. This car has worked near perfect for 16+ years, the other day it would not start, cranks real good. Had spark the other day, so I assumed fuel pressure, put in another pump, and found a badly corroded wire near ecu, repaired it. still no start. used jumper wire to get codes from diagnostic plug in and got codes for tps and coolant temp sensor, but it also said in service manual that it could be ecu. replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button. still no start. no power coming from high voltage at top of coil when cranking. Could it be a sensor holding it back. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I ran into same problem a month or so ago. This is my very first Toyota ever and I'm highly impressed, just like yours I have 92 Tercel 2dr. Mine quit going home and I had to tow it home as I could not find a problem roadside. I checked spark (good), fuel (good), and timing (good), so just like you said the manaul suggested ECU?. We'll being stubborn and not wanting to pay the big bucks I troubleshot more and I had all Voltage and signals that ALLDATA told me to check. Still no run Turned over great though, I then paid someone online (toyota expert) and once again good everything no run. This had the expert puzzled, he then suggested a new coil as he had seen 1 go soft? produces a spark but not enough to start the engine, I never ever had seen this I as they go bad. Anyway long story short new coil and it runs great today. I hop ethat this helps.

if you have a cap and rotor make sure the rotor is spining if it is not pull the top valve cover off and check the cam for anything broken if all seems fine take a look to your left and make sure you didn't slip or brake your timing belt...
i had this problem once and I was lucky it snapped in nutrel other wise my engine would be toast... if the belt snaps or slips the engine will still crank over just fine but it will not start... if you replace the belt make SURE you re-time your engine befor turning it over OTHERWISE the engine will be SHOT.
