Looking to replace my catalytic with a test pipe for increased performance. My question is when I'm looking on eBay there all for 95-98 Tacoma's,and some show no year at all. I have a 99 extended cab v6 3.4l..,how am I sure what will fit on my truck??
One more problem also. Recently my check engine light had came on,the truck was surging and felt like I was running out of fuel. I had a code come up as a misfire in cylinder #4,I replaced my plugs and wire's and it had cured the problem. But another problem has arisen ever sense,my fuel milage has dropped from around 19 mpg to 14 mpg. I come up with different answers to what might be the problem could be.I have to let you know that there is no change in performance of the truck, still have good horse power and drives just fine. Just fuel issues. Could it be my O2 sensors? How do I know there bad? At around a 100 bucks a peace just to replace them and not to be the problem!!
Thanks to all that reply.

First off, replacing the cat with a straight pipe is going to do squat unless you are designing a new free flowing exhausts system AND intake system to help the system breath better. In addition, you are going to have to do a lot of work trying to "fool" the computer system into thinking the cat still exist. Or just live with the check engine light on and bad gas millage as the computer defaults to failsafe mode. The factory supercharger is the best band for the buck. 400HP baby.

Did you drive it around much with the misfiring cylinder? If so, the computer could be trying to relearn how to run the motor after dealing with the rich burn condition. Give it a few tanks and see if it does not get better. You can also pick up a scan tool at most auto parts stores that will read any error codes. This should also give you an idea of the OS sensors need to be replaced. The FSM will also help to.
