Hay, I've just joined.

I wonder if there's any one around here from Asia Middle-East or South Africa. I own a Toyota Fortuner, which is only available in these countries, and I joined to find people who can help me. I'll post some pictures in the Guarage section.

I'm attaching a picture of the car, so you know what I'm talking about.

I'm a new Fortuner fan! I've been a Jeep Grand Cherokee owner for years but the Fortuner is the 'New kid on the block'!

Can the two rear row of seats be removed from the vehicle?

The Fortuner looks just like the RAV4! Maybe it is the same with a different name... although maybe I would really know if I get to stand next to it! It looks great! How high are the seats? I hope you are enjoying your car. It looks beautiful. How long have you had this car? How is it at the pump? Too expensive?

I have to admit I have never heard of this vehicle...Like the Rav, though. Anyone have pictures of this car?

Do the two back seats fold down flat for carrying cargo? It's a great looking vehicle and if it did that, it would be greater!

I got a chance and googled a picture of the vehicle...it definately is similiar to the Rav...but did not find anything on the seats actually folding down.

I have a Fortuner and I have to say it is definitely NOT like a Rav4. It's a body on frame (ladder) construct whereas the Rav4 is a unibody. It's built on the IMV platform, which is the same platform as the one used by the current generation of Hilux pickups. But don't think the Tacoma has the same frame because Toyota decided to split the lineages, the Tacoma is unique to North America and has its own platform, shared with the 4Runner (I think it still is). The Fortuner is powered by a 3.0 diesel, it's the same engine used in some Landcruiser Prado models.

The Rav4 uses some 4x4 mode that only kicks in when needed, so it's not a true 4x4. Whereas the Fortuner has a trim level with 4x4. It is a full-time all-wheel drive system with a Torsen differential at its heart (Torsen is used on Audis, high-end Mercedes, Lexus). River crossings are no problem for this ute. Essentially, the Fortuner is the SUV form of the Hilux Vigo.

Have you installed any special shields underneath for off roading or river crossing? I keep seeing these advertised and they seem like good aftermarket products to protect the underneath.

Hi Sam

I am familiar with Fortuners how does the new smart model differ? Is there a waiting list in Thailand, is it Thai assembled? what is the price I believe it is in the region of baht 1,250,000 is that right? Am I right in thinking it only comes in Black or White?

Thanks
