HEY

A company called XS Engineering as
developed a prototype turbo that is installed on the sport
compact car magazine project car.It fits and has a huge
intercooler. They haven't released performance figures but it is
going to be sold for around $8,000 US.(It had better be
good for that price) 11.5:1 compression makes a turbo
hard to handle on a stock bottom end. Low compression
pistons are available from TRD.The stock pistons will
handle 7.5 psi boost MAX!!! The stock XRS matrix 6 speed
was tested by sport compact car mag before
modification. It ran 8.9 zero to sixty or 0-100kmh for us
Canadians. A real quick fix for the acceleration is to add
smaller wheels and tires. The Celica GTS runs 7.1 zero to
sixty because it comes with 15" wheels stock. The gear
ratio is bad in the Celica to avoid an early 2-3 shift.
The 2-3 shift in most cars is about 62-63 mph to
avoid slowing 0-60 times. The 16" and 17" rims and
tires causes an even worse gear ratio. If you want to
go fast in a Matrix the #1 change you should make is
15" rims (looks crappy but will pick up about 1.8
seconds 0-60) Try that much change with engine parts you
would need another 75-100 hp. I would put up with going
slow to keep the 17's

Matrix_XRS
