Hey Everyone, got a question. I have a 97 Tacoma 2.4. For the past six months ive been getting the worst gas mileage ever, you'd think it has twice the engine that it does, i mean horrible horrible gas mileage for a four banger. I just had it hooked up for a diagnostic test and it says the throttle positioning sensor is bad. I know nothing about this. Could this be the cause of my terrible gas mileage. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

I had my TPS replaced last year because it kept poping the check engine light. I also thoroughly cleaned the housing. My gas mileage is and always has been @18 to 20. I also have a 4 cylinder. If anyone has any suggestions on raising that, I'd love to hear it.

Yes, poor fuel mileage could be a bad TPS. I am a bit worried that driving it around for 6 months with this problem, may have done damage to your emission system. Replace the TPS and see if that fixes it.
