I just bought an 83 Toyota 4X4 for $400 was told that all I had to do was put the timing chain on right... how wrong he was. i put the timing chain on and almost had it fired up until it kept backfiring through the carb. Took the head off... low and behold two bent valves just trying to figure out what to do. Thinking about putting on a 20r head but was told that my compression would go way down but I thought that because I had domed pistons and a smaller combustion chamber of the 20r head my compression would go up. So any help would be wonderful.

Thanks

Yes, you can put a 20R head on your '83 22R and get more power. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/s12.gif)
