Just wanted everyone’s opinions on all season tires versus a more specific brand like Michelin. I can really feel the difference with a more specific snow tire like Michelin. Although, some claim there is no difference that all season tires are fine. But in Alberta where it can ice up pretty quickly, I opted for the Michelin tires and haven’t regretted it. The debate rages on though, and a lot of drivers in this province simply don’t change their tires over in the winter.

Find out why they blew - If your dealer won't tell you take them to another shop. You should have a warranty on the tires (unless they stopped that for 02 models) You have to request reimbursement compensation but toyota needs the information why they blew to give you credit.

After having my 5000 mile service at Gettel Toyota in Bradenton Florida I drove away only to find that the "tight new car feeling" was gone. Only having an oil change and tire rotation I felt that they must have not balanced or aligned the tires after the rotation......so, I took it back one week later. They rebalanced and aligned the car. I drove away only to realize that it was actually worse. I finally called Gettel to tell them I would not be taking the car back there for future service....the service manager was very understanding and made arrangements to pickup my car and see just what was the problem. Again the tires were balanced and aligned. The tech said that it was still not corrected....finally they decided that the tires had worn badly and were "cupped". The tires were replaced at 5800 miles and now my Prius is "tight" and doesn't have that wobbel. THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES THAT ARE STANDARD ON THE VEHICLE. BEWARE! Jim St Petersburg, Florida IPS After reading all the Prius tire comments...what is the correct tire pressure? Obviously 35 and 32 causes cupping.

The brochure doesn't say what the type the tires are, but the size is P205/55R15 in 15" 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels. On a similar topic I was looking at the TireRack ad in the latest Automobile magazine and they have the Yokohama A680 P205/50R16 for $99 each.

If you have the 16 inch alloys, the yokohamas that came with the car have a warranty. When you purchased the car they should have given you a pamphlet on the yokohama tire warranty. It is probably covered considering the car cant be more than 3 or 4 months old. Jim Liquid Silver GT-S 6 speed
