I got a new (to me) 96 taco and I was wondering if I'd benefit much from installing a new K&n intake system
(fuel efficiency, extra power). The truck already has enough power but if I can get better mileage that would be a real plus. Any thoughts would be appreciated..

Don't waste your money on that POS. Do the deckplate mod instead. Getting fuel efficient and more HP don't go hand-in-hand, you either have one or the other, not both.

That's true;fuel efficiency and extra power are probably not going to happen. The deckplate mod looks good for drier climates but we get about 130 inches of rain a year, so I'd be putting the cover on and taking it off all the time (in pouring rain) But thank you for the link and your time.

Water shouldn't be that much of a problem. A few years ago, we had some monsoonal rains for about 1.5 months and my truck had no problems. The only problem would occur if you did some water crossings.

Those things are to **** expensive for what you get outta them. A K&N Intake only gives a 10% increase in power. Not even enough to notice. Don't waste the time or money.

K&N filters don't give you even close to 10% increase in power. I know, I used one when I owned a Civic and it didn't do squat, except screw up my engine by letting in particles that would have otherwise been blocked by a regular filter, which led to worn piston rings, burning oil and eventually, burned valves. I lost two cylinders that way and had to replace the motor. If you do decide you want the K&N filter, and your engine craps out on you after 50,000 miles, don't say we didn't warn you.
