Hi, I'm moving from Texas to California and I'm considering towing a 4x8 trailer. I read the 1997 Corolla could tow up to 1500 lbs, but my car now has 158,000 miles. I don't have any problems with it, but does the high mileage make a difference on towing (stress on tranny)? It is a manual transmission if that makes a difference. Has anyone had a problem towing long distances with a small car? Thank you.

I just towed the exact trailer 1200 km without any problems with my 2008.

I burnt 115 litres (30 US gallons) of gas over 974 km (605 miles).

Based on my info, the car gave me 20 MPG (which is 24 MPG in Canada). I travelled at ~ 75 miles per hour (120 km per hour).

Don't overload .. stick to the 1500 pound limit .. keeping in mind the trailer is 790 pounds or so iirc.

Manual tranny is a plus for towing.
