Hi

I drive a 1998 Toyota Caldina 2.0G station wagon and after so many years, I have finally decided to upgrade the car stereo. The stereo that is currently in the vehicle is the stock standard one issued with this vehicle (a tape deck..yep, going back old school hahahaha). A friend of mine is going to install my new car stereo & advised me on what parts to get. The one thing he wanted to know was (& I hope whoever reads this understands this) what type of connection is on the back of this radio so that I can get the right AM/FM converter installed on my new car radio?

Hopefully if someone has the same vehicle with the same stereo, perhaps you can help me out?

You won't need any kind of AM/FM converter. I think he's thinking of a band expander - well those are only required for the OEM Jap stereos that run from 76-90MHz on FM.

The antenna plug is universal so your mate should just be able to wire the new stereo in and have it up and running in a flash.
