Today I put the car into reverse and backed out of my spot. When I pulled out of the drivewary into the street, the car did not accelerate. It was crawling along. But suddenly, it was zooming towards my destination. I arrived safely and got home with no problems, making several stops along the way. What could be the cause of this? I just had the car brought up to speed: new tires, alignment, new air filter, oil change, battery. It runs very well. Bad gas? Any ideas welcomed. Thanks.

My guess would be bad gas or some gunk that got sucked into the fuel pickup. Id run some fuel system cleaner through it.

I have had the exact same thing happen in my 2000 Corolla several times over the past 6 months. I change my own oil with good oil and use a fuel system cleaner every 5000 kms. I was wondering if it might be the fuel pump or just a bad spark?

Free code read at AutoZone might show intermittent spark problem. May be a bad coil. That was the cause of a "bog" with my 99.

hii,
i have acceleration problem to at my corolla, after a 120000 km service, finally at my car the problem was that the air sensor was not clean, after the clear of it the car started to accelerates normally.

did you fixed it?
