Toyota Motor Corp. said July sales at its U.S. unit fell 7.3% to 224,058 vehicles from 241,826 a year earlier, when there was one fewer selling day.
On an adjusted basis, sales fell 3.5%.
The company said sales at its Toyota Division fell 8.4% to 196,917 vehicles from 214,867 vehicles. Passenger car sales shrank 13.8% to 112,153 vehicles from 130,109 vehicles. On an adjusted basis, the division's sales fell 4.5%.
Lexus brand sales rose to 27,141 vehicles from 26,959 a year earlier.
Light-truck sales in July rose to 84,764 vehicles from 84,758.
Before you start running around in a circle screaming, "THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY IS FALLING", consider this: Ford was down 19% and GM was down 22%.
